Compare the2024 Chevrolet Silverado EVVS 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup

Both the Silverado EV and Hummer EV Pickup have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Silverado EV has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Hummer EV Pickup’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Silverado EV and the Hummer EV Pickup have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available driver alert monitors.

There are over 73 percent more Chevrolet dealers than there are GMC dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Silverado EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than GMC vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 41 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 20th, below the industry average.

Power ranks Chevrolet fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 32 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 18th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 4 places higher in reliability than GMC.

The Silverado EV RST’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV Pickup’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Silverado EV RST has standard 24-inch wheels. The Hummer EV Pickup’s largest wheels are only 22-inches.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Silverado EV’s wheelbase is 10.1 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (145.7 inches vs. 135.6 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Silverado EV RST w/rear wheel steering’s turning circle is 2.1 feet tighter than the Hummer EV Pickup 2’s (42.2 feet vs. 44.3 feet).

The Silverado EV has 1.5 inches more front hip room, 1 inch more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom, 5.4 inches more rear legroom and 1.2 inches more rear hip room than the Hummer EV Pickup.

The Silverado EV’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Hummer EV Pickup’s (10,000 vs. 7500 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is only 7500 pounds. The Silverado EV offers up to a 12500 lbs. towing capacity.

The Silverado EV has a much higher optional payload capacity than the Hummer EV Pickup (1750 vs. 1300 lbs.).

The Silverado EV offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, warning, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Silverado EV RST’s driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control. The Hummer EV Pickup’s driver’s power window switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully.
