The Cadillac XT5 comes with a standard HD Surround Vision with a rear camera washer to provide all-weather visibility, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Genesis GV80 doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Compared to metal, the XT5’s plastic fuel tank can withstand harder, more intrusive impacts without leaking; this decreases the possibility of fire. The Genesis GV80 has a metal gas tank.

Both the XT5 and the GV80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the XT5 has a standard 170-amp alternator. The GV80’s standard 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the XT5 first among midsize premium suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The GV80 was rated second in its category.

The XT5’s optional 3.6 DOHC V6 produces 10 more horsepower (310 vs. 300) than the GV80 2.5T’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the XT5 gets better mileage than the GV80:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the XT5’s fuel efficiency. The GV80 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Cadillac XT5 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended with the 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder engine for maximum performance). The GV80 2.5T requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The XT5 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GV80 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac XT5, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the GV80.

The XT5 stops shorter than the GV80:

The Cadillac XT5’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Genesis GV80 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The XT5 AWD handles at .84 G’s, while the GV80 ADVANCED AWD pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The XT5 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GV80 AWD (27 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 27.4 seconds @ .63 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the XT5’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the GV80’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.3 feet). The XT5 w/20” wheels’ turning circle is .3 feet tighter than the GV80’s (39 feet vs. 39.3 feet).

The Cadillac XT5 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 800 to 1000 pounds less than the Genesis GV80.

The XT5 is 4.9 inches shorter than the GV80, making the XT5 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The XT5 has a much larger cargo volume than the GV80 with its rear seat up (30 vs. 11.6 cubic feet).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the XT5 uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The GV80 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The XT5’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The GV80 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

On a hot day the XT5’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the GV80 can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the XT5 has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The GV80 doesn’t offer cornering lights.
