For enhanced safety, the front shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Blazer are height-adjustable, and the rear seat shoulder belts have child comfort guides to move the belt to properly fit children. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages children to buckle up. The Toyota Crown Signia has only front height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Blazer and the Crown Signia have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Chevrolet Blazer is safer than the Toyota Crown Signia:

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Blazer first among midsize suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Crown Signia was rated third.

The Blazer’s optional 3.6 DOHC V6 produces 68 more horsepower (308 vs. 240) than the Crown Signia’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Chevrolet Blazer V6 is faster than the Toyota Crown Signia:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Blazer V6’s fuel efficiency. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Both the Blazer and Crown Signia have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. The Blazer has a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily.

The Blazer FWD’s standard fuel tank has 4.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Crown Signia (19.4 vs. 14.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Blazer AWD’s standard fuel tank has 7.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Crown Signia (21.7 vs. 14.5 gallons).

The Blazer has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Blazer stops much shorter than the Crown Signia:

For better traction, the Blazer has larger standard tires than the Crown Signia (235/65R18 vs. 225/55R19). The Blazer RS’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Crown Signia (265/45R21 vs. 235/45R21).

The Chevrolet Blazer’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Toyota Crown Signia only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Blazer has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Crown Signia; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Blazer RS AWD handles at .87 G’s, while the Crown Signia Limited pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Blazer’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the Crown Signia’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.5 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Blazer LT has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Crown Signia (7.5 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the Blazer to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Blazer RS’ minimum ground clearance is .9 inch higher than on the Crown Signia (7.6 vs. 6.7 inches).

The Chevrolet Blazer may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Toyota Crown Signia.

The front grille of the Blazer uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Blazer uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Blazer has .7 inches more front headroom, .9 inches more front hip room, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, 2.5 inches more rear legroom, 6.5 inches more rear hip room and 3.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Crown Signia.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Blazer’s rear seats recline. The Crown Signia’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Blazer has a much larger cargo volume than the Crown Signia with its rear seat up (30.5 vs. 25.8 cubic feet).

Maximum trailer towing in the Toyota Crown Signia is limited to 2700 pounds. The Blazer offers up to a 4500 lbs. towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Blazer uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Blazer uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Crown Signia uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The Blazer’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Crown Signia does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Blazer’s available exterior PIN entry system. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

The Blazer’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Crown Signia has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Blazer offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Blazer is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Crown Signia doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
