Safety

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Vistiq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Gravity doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

A passive infrared night vision system standard on the Vistiq Premium Luxury/Platinum helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Gravity doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Vistiq has standard OnStar®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions, remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Vistiq and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Cadillac Vistiq weighs 814 pounds more than the Lucid Motors Gravity. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Vistiq Platinum’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Gravity:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Vistiq has larger standard tires than the Gravity (285/45R21 vs. 265/50R20). The Vistiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Gravity (305/35R23 vs. 265/50R20).

The Vistiq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Gravity’s standard 50 series front tires. The Vistiq’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Gravity’s optional 40 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vistiq has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch front wheels are standard on the Gravity. The Vistiq’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch front wheels and 23-inch rear wheels optional on the Gravity.

The Cadillac Vistiq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Lucid Motors Gravity only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Vistiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Gravity doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Vistiq’s wheelbase is 2.3 inches longer than on the Gravity (121.8 inches vs. 119.5 inches).

Chassis

The Vistiq uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Gravity doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Cargo Capacity

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Vistiq’s cargo door can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The Vistiq has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Gravity doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Gravity, the Vistiq has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Vistiq has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Vistiq’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Vistiq’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Vistiq has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Gravity.

The Cadillac Vistiq stands out above the Lucid Motors Gravity by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and two of them provide more flexibility. Both vehicles also offer Qi charging for the second row passengers.
